MAKE A DENTAL NOTE: Parents and guardians, don’t forget that the Dental Bus will be making its annual visit to Beaverton Schools Nov. 18-20, providing kids with the opportunity for checkups, cleanings and X-rays as needed. Students in grades K-8 were given consent forms to bring home, and those need to be returned to the school ASAP; if you need a new form, stop by the school office. #DentalHealth

WELL-DESERVED: Congrats to BJSHS senior David Abreu, this year's winner of the DAR Good Citizen Award. He was selected by staff for numerous admirable qualities, including dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. David and his family were welcomed at a celebration for local DAR winners in Midland last week and, as always, represented Beaverton very well. Great job, David, and #GoBeavers.

IT’S AN HONOR: Our students at Beaverton Elementary will once again pay tribute to all the veterans in our community with our annual Veterans Day Assembly this Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at BES. Please help spread the word to let the veterans in your life know that we’d be honored if they would join us. Our students and teaching staff have been preparing for several weeks and if you’ve attended in the past, you know this event is something special. Additionally, a light reception will be provided for community military members starting at noon. (And if you’re unable to attend, you can catch the event streaming live on the Beaverton Schools YouTube channel at https://t.ly/HD0jN.) Thank you, veterans, and we’ll see you there. #Respect

IS THAT REGULATION GEAR? Today's much-anticipated BJSHS Dodgeball Showdown between students and staff was much more than a tale of heroes vs. villains or of a freshman class fundraiser gone crazy. Indeed, it was a battle for the very soul of the school. And when the smoke cleared, the sophomore class had plowed past its peers and its teachers, leaving zero doubt about its dodgeball dominance in this town. #GoBeavers #DodgeDuckDipDiveDodge

GREAT EGGSPECTATIONS: Big day for knowledge on campus today. (But aren't they all?) At BJSHS, our friend and PlastiVan Educator Elizabeth Egan returned once again to amaze junior high students with lab experiments that always seem to carry just a touch of magic. Meanwhile at BES, the grand finale of the annual Egg Drop project spelled a day of reckoning for dozens. Fourth-graders pulled together weeks of research, bundled their eggs with as much safe packaging as their imaginations could muster, launched them from the top row of the bleachers and hoped for the best in their quest for a safe landing. Neither event ever fails to entertain and as always, science rules the day. #GoBeavers #Eggceptional

ESSENTIAL TRADITION: At this point, it's an annual thing, but the message is always vital - Beaverton Firefighter Phil Andrist visits BES first-graders in October to discuss fire safety, checking smoke detectors, treating people with respect, and...OH YEAH! Blasting that firehose! (Let's face it, the guy understands his audience.) Thanks to Phil and his partner Case Dunn for delivering essential info in an engaging way to our kids. #GoBeavers

IN OBVIOUS NEWS, SCIENCE RULES - Our BES STEM students got a visit today from REMC5 Director Joe Trommeter, who brought all sorts of hands-on maker materials that removed any doubts that science absolutely rocks. From clip-on devices that convert cell phones into microscopes to robotic cars that respond differently according to road surface colors, kids had a flat-out blast trying to figure it all out. #GoBeavers
